Author Thomas Nichols, who offers a fresh perspective in this novel because of his first-hand experience with law enforcement. Nichols retired as deputy chief from the Tucson Police Department to become chief of police for Lubbock. He retired from municipal policing to establish the Lubbock School District Police Department.
