Spiritual Guide Provides Key to Unlocking Doors to Wisdom; Wally and Jenny Richardson Release New Book

coverRichardsonPtI

Dog Ear Publishing releases “The Path to Illumination” by Wally and jenny Richardson.

Readers gain a tool to change their lives in this new book by a husband and wife team and spirit channel released by Dog Ear Publishing. This amazing resource blends spirit channeling, Christianity and meditation.

The search for truth sometimes brings nothing but additional questions, including where to begin the search. Those who want illumination now have another avenue to explore: This new book by a husband and wife that guides readers to higher knowledge and spiritual awareness.

“The Path to Illumination” blends Christian beliefs with aspects of other spiritual traditions to create a new way of thinking about illumination. The authors compare the process of acquiring a new outlook on life, other people and oneself to a sculptor creating a new piece, chipping away negative emotions such as hate, racial prejudice and greed – making the reader less likely to create negative thoughts. “Lust for the baser emotional responses can be rechanneled to lusting for higher knowledge,” they write. “Desire for physical and material manifestations can be changed to desire for spiritual awareness.”

While writing the book, the trio each played a role, channeling higher forces through meditation and prayer with the help of spirit channel Lenora Huett, who identified one force as the Master of the Mind and another as the Master of Glory, which tapped an even higher state of consciousness. The book touches on many aspects of seeking truth and is divided into sections on illumination, reincarnation, creative energy, prayer and meditation, the aura, universal laws, the wheel of life and the Bible. The authors employed a free-flowing, question-and-answer format for their work, stimulating readers to more deeply explore issues that block their own personal spiritual growth, pointing them toward their ultimate goal of illumination.

Author Wally Richardson, a retired Navy fighter and United Air Lines pilot and businessman, is a longtime student of metaphysical teachings. Co-author Jenny Richardson has thoroughly studied comparative religions and healing techniques through the powers of the mind and the vegetable kingdom. She also studies auras. The pair teamed up with Lenora Huett, an experienced spiritual channel who has since died. The Richardsons also wrote “The Spiritual Value of Gem Stones,” “Revelations Revealed” and “Physician, Heal Thyself.” They are working on “What You Do, Makes You What You Are.”

Psychiatrist Helps Veterans Tap Into New Treatments for PTSD; David Fohrman Releases New Book

coverFohrman

Dog Ear Publishing releases “Traumatic Stress Recovery: Helping Those Traumatized by Selfless Service” by David Fohrman.

An expert in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder shares information in layman’s terms about the disorder – and potential treatments — in this new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

Although soldiers train and prepare for every mission to ensure their greatest chance for survival, there is no all-encompassing method to prepare for their minds for the effects of trauma. This new book, based on years of clinic and basic research, offers a roadmap to recovery for veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and their helpers. The author, Dr. David Fohrman, created the stress resiliency program while serving as chief of mental health in the 1st Armored Division.

“Traumatic Stress Recovery: Helping Those Traumatized by Selfless Service” is divided into three sections covering PTSD, a debilitating disorder that can affect veterans and their families for years – and even decades – after they’ve left the service. The first section gives readers essential information about the psychological and biological causes of PTSD, as well as its connection to suicide. The second section describes a six-step, competency-based program veterans can use to decrease the impact of PTSD-type problems. The third section focuses on what communities can do to help veterans and others at risk of developing PTSD, including challenging assumptions on what it means to have the disorder, what it means to be “cured” and what it means to be “resilient.”

This valuable resource offers insights into PTSD and debunks popular myths, such as only weak-minded people can develop the disorder. In fact, the opposite is true. Strong, compassionate people who perform to the best of their abilities develop the disorder following a traumatic event precisely because they care so passionately about their own lives and that of their fellow soldiers. All hope is not lost for those who suffer from PTSD if they have a plan and help from professionals, family and friends. As the author writes, “even veterans with chronic PTSD symptoms can learn essential skills to help them recover their compassion for – and their capacity for trust and closeness with – themselves and others.” This book is just an overview of the types of exercises veterans can use to decrease both the severity and intensity of PTSD-type symptoms. A companion book, “Traumatic Stress Recovery: Workbook,” available through www.tsrexperts.com offers additional practical exercises.

Dr. David Fohrman, founder of Traumatic Stress Recovery, has more than 12 years of experience teaching resiliency techniques to military and civilian settings. The board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist has received numerous awards, including the Kosovo Campaign Ribbon, Alpha Omega Alpha and America’s Top Psychiatrists in 2006. He helped thousands ofactive duty, National Guard, veterans, and family members with his program since 2008.

New Children’s Book Details Dangers of Thumb Sucking

coverMorgan

Dog Ear Publishing releases “Why the Long Face? A Story About Thumb Sucking” by Dr. Todd Morgan.

A board-certified expert with his own dental practice describes the all-too-real consequences of thumb-sucking on a child’s health and development in this new picture book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

Although thumb sucking can be a soothing activity for babies and young children, its effects are anything but soothing to the body. In fact, thumb sucking can affect craniofacial growth and development of airways, hindering functions such as breathing, speaking and swallowing. This new book by a dentist details the effects of thumb sucking on growing children to help parents recognize early symptoms so they can avoid problems with their child’s health.

“Why the Long Face? A Story About Thumb Sucking” stars Gracie, a smart girl who knows a lot of things but not the problems that sucking a thumb can create. Gracie isn’t worried that her constant thumb sucking makes her smile crooked or might make her face long. After all, her pony Alice has a long face and looks beautiful. When she visits her dentist, Dr. Morgan, Gracie and her parents find out how much damage a thumb can create, including making it harder to breathe at night. A fateful dream changes Gracie’s mind about the pleasure of sucking her thumb. Colorful watercolor illustrations by Manny Aguiler and a list of helpful organizations and websites round out this resource for any parent with a thumb-sucking child.

Author Todd Morgan, an internationally recognized expert in dental sleep medicine, has a practice in Encinitas, Calif. He graduated from the Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis in 1985. Morgan is board certified in dentistry and dental sleep medicine and has completed clinic research studies and published scientific papers on treating snoring, sleep apnea and headaches with dental devices. He and his wife, Barbi, have four children.

Take A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Beauty Pageants in Lara Miller Ketter’s New Book

coverKetterPA

Dog Ear Publishing releases “My Pageant Addiction: Losing Myself Among Beaded Gowns, Four-Inch Heels, and Duct Tape” by Lara Miller Ketter.

Beauty queen turned wordsmith, Lara Miller Ketter, details the ups and downs of being a beauty pageant contestant in this new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

Nineteen-year-old Lara Miller could never have imagined that entering the Miss Star Valley Pageant would lead to a four-year addiction in pursuit of a crown. Winning third runner-up in her first pageant just whetted the brunette’s appetite for competition – despite having to stand on stage in nothing but a swimsuit and three-inch heels. In this witty new book, the author shares stories – and wisdom — based on her adventures traveling all over Kansas competing in fourteen pageants on the local and state level. She even directed a local pageant for three years until it folded because of declining contestant numbers.

“My Pageant Addiction: Losing Myself Among Beaded Gowns, Four-Inch Heels, and Duct Tape” showcases Ketter’s sense of humor with such chapters as “In My Quest for a Crown, I Compared My Thighs to Their Thighs” and “I Constantly Changed My Look and Direction, Resulting in a Bad Case of Dizziness.” Ketter’s descriptions of the realities of pageants shows how much drama takes place both backstage and in contestants’ heads: her first trip wobbling down a pageant runway showing her fanny to one and all; losing confidence when she measures herself against other competitors; and gaining confidence after a pageant veteran shows her a new way to perform.

Although she pokes fun at herself and the other contestants, Ketter also shows a serious side, offering words of caution about letting competition drive self-esteem, and offering advice for those who want to follow in her footsteps. She shares gems of wisdom at the end of each chapter, from basic tips like renting wardrobe pieces and creating rapport with the judges, to being true to yourself and recognizing your strengths. This compelling and honest account of pageants provides a behind-the-scenes resource for women looking for success on the beauty pageant circuit and beyond.

This is the second book for author Lara Miller Ketter, who also wrote “Not This Lifetime, I’ve Got a Headache!” Ketter grew up in the newspaper business and worked at her parents’ four weekly newspapers before and after attending Kansas State University. She earned a degree in communications with a minor in music theater. Ketter wrote a weekly humor column for 10 years for the Down News & Times, blogged about funny farm anecdotes at BarbedandWired.com and has written a column for the quarterly Tipton Times newspaper. She currently blogs on her website, LaraKetter.com. She and her husband live on a farm near Tipton with their three children.
