Poems Shares Woman’s Journey in Faith; C. Montgomery Releases New Book

coverMntgmry

Dog Ear Publishing releases “As i Walk: My Spiritual Journey” by C. Montgomery.

Everyone who embarks on a journey of faith takes a different path, and author C. Montgomery is no exception. In this new collection of poems, she gives readers a close-up view of her experiences on her self-titled “road to Damascus.” Each poem portrays a specific event that touched her life, and she says the words were inspired by God who guided her hand. The poems allow Ms. Montgomery to review her life and see the amazing effect God’s unconditional love had on keeping her protected, even when times seemed darkest.

“As i Walk: My Spiritual Journey” features three sections: Acknowledgement and Praises, Tending the Temple and Preparing Our Youth. The poem “A Storm Within” acknowledges the author’s regret for past sins and hope for the future: “I am face with my sins, and the life that I’ve kept. So unsure of my fate, I just shamefully wept. But, praise be to God, for in my darkest hours. He has come to my aid, displaying His holy power.” The selection “The Saints of Tomorrow” calls on parents to lead their children to Christ: “We will grow into saints, from what you have sown. For, the teaching of God where He is unknown. Lend to us now, we are eager to borrow. For, we are Gods’ saints, His light of tomorrow,” The poem “Dwelling in Truth,” in the book’s finale section, asks people to tend their bodies properly and explore the truths in the Bible: “Listen to your body, for Christ is its light. Invest in God’s Word, to prepare it for night.” Whether calling on parents to shepherd their children or sinners to repent of their misdeeds, it’s clear Ms. Montgomery is passionate about sharing her love of the Lord through this debut poetry collection.

This is the first book for author C. Montgomery, a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service who has no formal training in literary, nor poetic writing. The Detroit native, a grandmother, was inspired to write during a period of fasting to God about three years ago and writes that she hopes to serve the Lord through this project.

Poems Provide Release for Bi-Polar Author Tom Sebell

coverSebell

Dog Ear Publishing releases “Bi-Polar Poems” by Tom Sebell.

A bi-polar poet shares his thoughts on the world and his life in this new poetry collection released by Dog Ear Publishing.

Writing allows people to express themselves, and people with a lot on their mind are no exception. The author of this new book of poetry, who is bi-polar, writes poems as a way to relax and let out some of the dark thoughts he has in the world, which he sees in stark black and white – not shades of gray. Although he could sink to the depths of despair, given his choice to laugh or cry, he chooses to laugh and provide insight into a world of his making.

“Bi-Polar Poems” shows other sufferers of this condition that they are not alone. Author Tom Sebell lets his sense of humor shine like a beacon of light in the darkness. As he writes in one short selection, “If I took an IQ test, the results would say buy him a helmet.” Another poem pokes fun of the long-standing nature of his illness: “When I was little I was so screwed up even the little bus rode by me and waved.” But Sebell can be serious as well, such as a poem in which he describes the isolation he sometimes feels: “Most people could not handle our bi-polar mind, none the less deal with our bi-polar world.”

Author Tom Sebell, who has been diagnosed as bi-polar, is married and has a son. He lives in Pennsville, N.J. Sebell credits his family and friends for helping him make it through life.

New Poetry Collection Shares God’s Grace, Love; Book by Christine Gail Garcia

coverGarcia

Dog Ear Publishing releases “Words by God’s Grace” by Christine Gail Garcia.

A former teacher shares poems inspired by God in this new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

When Christine Gail Garcia began writing poetry, she did so to express personal communication between her and God. Soon, however, she began to feel that God meant for her work to be shared, so she decided to publish her words, hoping to bring comfort and grace to others. This new book includes prayers asking for strength, prayers of sorrow and pain, prayers asking for forgiveness and prayers of praise and thanksgiving.

“Words by God’s Grace” focuses on the challenges – and the blessings – of everyday life. Each poem is followed by an explanation of the author’s thoughts on the topic, as well as Bible verses related to the topic. In “Saying Goodbye,” Garcia writes of the pain – and the joy – of losing a loved one. “If you know your loved one walked with the Lord, let your heart rejoice, for they go to their reward. Angels have escorted them through the pearly gates, and God has taken them into His embrace.” Her explanation points out that Christians experience grief but know their loved one is with the Lord. It’s the unbelievers who will be parted from their loved ones forever. The author’s anguish for Christ’s suffering is apparent in the poem “My Heart is Broken,” especially these lines: “My heart is broken. His body was broken. Oh, how He suffered because of my sin.” As Garcia writes in the explanation, “Every time I think of how much Jesus suffered to cleanse me of my sins, my heart breaks. … Without His sacrifice, there would be no hope for anyone. No amount of praise and worship is enough.”

This is the first book for author Christine Gail Garcia, a retired schoolteacher. The mother and grandmother writes from the heart based on the trials and tribulations of daily life. Garcia invites readers who have been touched by the book to post on her Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/WordsByGodsGrace.
