coverRadon

Dog Ear Publishing releases “America Not That Beautiful” by Jadwiga Radon

A diabetic shares tips and tricks for dealing with diabetes in this new self-help book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

Although freedom and resources enhance the U.S.’s image as a land of plenty, that reputation has a dark side: obesity. In her new book, an author and diabetic challenges Americans to change their lifestyle while they still can. As she points out, diabetics struggle with their condition, but hard work and dedication – including eating correctly and exercising – can help them beat the disease.

“America not that Beautiful” describes basic human behavior, noting that sometimes eating – a necessary fact of life – can become an addiction, especially the high-calorie types readily available in the United States at corner stores, gas stations and grocery stores. That addiction, when accompanied by a sedentary lifestyle and other risk factors, can lead to diabetes. Radon writes about her diagnosis with Type II diabetes and how she worked to fight the disease through modifying her diet and increasing her exercising. Her efforts paid off: Today she is 25 pounds lighter, her cholesterol is within normal limits and she is prediabetic rather than a diabetic.

Radon aims to provide inspiration and practical tips to fighting diabetes, sharing suggestions for daily activities and good habits, information on counting carbohydrates and tips for shopping for food. Diabetic-friendly recipes such as lima beans with sausage and deviled eggs made with avocado incorporate easy-to-find ingredients and good nutrition. The book closes with a chapter devoted to inspirational quotes from historic figures and some inspirational thoughts from the author.

Author Jadwiga Radon. who has diagnosed with diabetes in 2009, taught for 32 years before moving to the United States from Poland to be closer to her only child, a daughter. She is a retired teacher interested in psychology, history and politics. Radon, who moved to the United States in 2001 from Poland, enjoys the mountainous area of Idaho, where she lives. Learn How to Live Life to the Fullest with Tips from Jason Hughes in New Book

coverHughes

Dog Ear Publishing releases “Manstein: The Inner Genius Within Us All” by Jason Hughes.

An author who faced an incredible challenge of survival during his teen years urges people to explore their potential for inner genius in this new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

When fate intervened in his life, author Jason Hughes was forced to forge a new path. A horrific car crash killed his best friend and left Hughes battered in body but profoundly affected by a near-death experience filled with love. In this new book, he shares his belief that everyone possesses an “inner genius” that guides his life and expresses that genius, whether it is physical, mental or spiritual. Hughes calls that concept “Manstein,” in honor of scientific and mathematical genius Albert Einstein and his ability to express himself perfectly during his lifetime.

“Manstein: The Inner Genius Within Us All” aims to show readers how to achieve their own peace, happiness and productivity through developing their inner genius and recognizing their connection to the world and the love that abounds there. Hughes implores people to let go of the fears in their lives and trust in spiritual truth and love. He does not say the process will be easy; indeed, all living things experience ups and downs. Accessing inner genius through relationships, careers, family, hobbies, physical experiences, art or music allows people to shape their journey through life. Tools to realize Manstein include meditation, living according to spiritual law, choosing to be a light in the world, living in the moment, being grateful and – above all – recognizing spiritual love. As Hughes writes in the introduction, “We all have been divinely created to simply be extraordinary and to live a unique life of extraordinary purpose and success in our individual lives.”

Author Jason Hughes was a young rising tennis tournament star growing up in Old Saybrook, Conn., until a car accident at age 16 left him with a traumatic brain injury and killed his best friend. Hughes spent time in a coma and given only a 20 percent chance of survival. Three years of physical therapy helped heal his body, and his near-death experience changed his life. Hughes attended Tyler (Texas) Junior College to become certified by the U.S. Professional Tennis Association to teach tennis. He has a bachelor’s degree in communications from Northeastern University and a master’s degree in holistic counseling from Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I. He teaches at the Beverly Hills Tennis Center and is a holistic health life coach.

New Cookbook Touts Benefits of Eating to Stay Healthy; Sharmila Patil Bhagirath Releases New Book

coverJogdand

Dog Ear Publishing releases “Tridoshik Recipes” by Shamila Patil Bhagirath.

Author Sharmila Patil Bhagirath bestows the fruits of her many years of research in Ayurvedic cooking upon readers interested in using food as a route to wellness of body and mind in this new book released by Dog Ear Publishing. Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of longevity, uses the natural aspects of food as a way to heal.

Ayurveda is a venerable Indian tradition focusing on maintaining health and longevity using food as a medicine. Unlike many of today’s theories about health, this method of nutrition focuses not only on the nutrients contained within the food but the food’s digestibility and its post-digestion effect. In her new book, author Sharmila Patil Bhagirath explains the teachings of Ayurveda and the approach to food in addition to sharing many healthful, delicious recipes that will allow readers to maintain optimum health.

According to Ayurveda, All matter is made up of five elements (space, air, fire, water and earth). These elements are represented in the body as Vata (air & space), Pitta (fire & water) and Kapha (earth & water) which are called Tridoshas. Food also contains these five elements. Building on this connection, Ayurveda utilizes energies of the food to heal and balance the body. So if you have more water element in the body creating imbalance and disease, Ayurveda recommends using food that contains more fire element to restore this imbalance. This is the basic principle behind Ayurvedic cooking. Tridoshik recipes are the ones which balance all three doshas. Ayurveda identifies certain food, spices and cooking methods that are tridosha balancing. The tridoshik recipes contained in this book help restore and maintain this balance in the body, irrespective of one’s doshas.

Sharmila explains the different qualities of the doshas and shares the issues an imbalance can cause. After a thorough explanation of these different aspects, she dives into a huge variety of dishes that will tempt the palate of any reader.

Tridosik Recipes: The Food Alchemy provides a thoughtful approach to food that will allow readers to maintain perennial good health as they eat delicious meals. Providing recipes that are easy to follow and practical, the author makes healthful cooking reachable to even novice cooks.

Author Sharmila Patil Bhagirath, a freelance writer, hails from India, where she’s pursuing her second master’s degree from National Law School of India University in Bangalore, India. She has spent more than 15 years exploring the world of Ayurveda and shares the knowledge in this accessible collection of recipes.
