Dog Ear Publishing releases “The Lost Wave” by Richard Scott Dobson.

A smuggler concocts a daring scheme to make a political statement in this new novel released by Dog Ear Publishing.

Two years of preparation come to a head when 10 tons of ganja needs to be unloaded off the California coast. Stephen Muir, a sea-loving smuggler, stars in this new novel that features a colorful cast of characters that includes a keen-eyed Rastafarian from Colombia who serves as a skipper, dealers, old surfing buddies and beautiful women, all with ties to the drug trade. The smugglers thrive on both the profit and the adrenaline their ventures provide, but their latest adventure might be their last.

“The Lost Wave” details the quirks of the smugglers, such as a slender beauty who fights almost literally to the death to land a marlin and a Japanese dealer with a maze of tunnels beneath his house. A corrupt DEA agent with questionable associates begins to meddle in the group’s latest operation, which includes a different kind of tea party. Stephen wants to dump 2,000 of marijuana into Boston Harbor to protest the incarceration of people involved in selling the drug – an activity he thinks should not be criminalized.

The stakes in this cat-and-mouse game get higher as U.S. government agents try to track the ship and the smugglers use their tricks to evade detection. Some smugglers are not up for the challenge and leave the game while they still can. A deadly hurricane engulfs the Boston-bound ship and her pursuer, causing a critical situation. Will Stephen and his crew be able to complete their mission or does fate have another plan in store?

Author Richard Scott Dobson has fished everything from cod to shrimp, black grouper, marlin and crab. The outdoors lover also has worked as a carpenter, shipwright, plumber, diver, sculptor and builder.
